Enough is Enough
NEW YORK – William Shatner, of all people, stands at the center of television's latest moral battleground.
He's the cantankerous lead character in a new CBS sitcom, "(Bleep) My Dad Says," that is scheduled to air on Thursday nights. Rather than "bleep," the title uses a series of symbols that suggest the expletive included in the book title on which the series is based.
The Parents Television Council last week sent letters to 340 companies that advertise frequently on TV urging them to stay away from the show unless the name is changed. The group argues that the title is indecent."
What are these people smoking and why are they being allowed to tell me what I can and can't watch on television. The Title of the new series is "@#$% My Dad Says" and is based on the book titled "SHIT My Dad says"(Emphases Mine). Now if I'm not mistaken this is not the sixties were the use of any profanity can get you thrown in jail, and there are only three channels. In fact, regularly on cable these days you can see plenty of FUCKING and TITS, two of the words that got George Carlin thrown in jail for saying on the radio (emphases mine again :) ) .
Over the past decade or so all these groups have popped up tell us what we can and can't do, what we can and can't see, or say. I for one am more than a little insulted. Way back when I first started this blog I wrote on this same subject, and my views haven't changed much. These are small groups of people that take great enjoyment out of bullying our media, our companies and our government into telling us what we can and can't do.
Well I've got news for them. I will not listen and they should all just SHUT THE FUCK UP and quit trying to force their views and morals and antiquated ideas on everyone else. I now return you to our regularly scheduled blog :P

For those of you that have wondered
For those of you that have ever wondered what takes so long for me to post anything here allow me to explain. Not only do I have a family, and produce a weekly radio show, and have my own "horror host" program in production. But I am also an avid fan and player of World of Warcraft. the picture is of my two highest ranking characters ( or toons ) in the game. My level 73 hunter and my Level 63 Deathknight.
No worries though, I have actually spent more time working on the shows lately than playing WoW, so who knows
farewell ... for now

Music Review; Ornate Counterpoint
Greetings poppets, I actually have something to share with you this week that you’ll enjoy. Recently had a chance to listen to a new CD, and when I finished I couldn’t help but want to talk about it and play it for all of you; It’s called Ornate Counterpoint a history of Baroque Pop . But Uncle, you might ask, What’s Baroque Pop ? Well not only am I going to tell you all that, but I’ll even be talking to you about the CD. As well, since that’s why you’re reading this in the first place.
Baroque pop, first emerged in the nineteen sixties when such performers as Burt Bacharach, the left Bank, The Beach Boys and others began mixing elements of classical music into their music. Continuing throughout the sixties such bands as The Moody Blues, The Beatles, and The Zombies also contributed to its popularity. The seventies with the increase in electronic instruments brought a decline to its popularity, but over the past two decades has regained much of what it lost.
Ornate Counterpoint, is a mix of old familiar performers such as the left Banke. The Beach Boys, The Zombies and our good friends Vernian Process, as well as new names that I will be adding to my list of favorites. The music its self flows seamlessly from one track to the next, creating a smooth mellow feeling. I can easily picture myself listening to it while sitting out on the veranda and enjoying a nice cup of tea while staring up at a full moon, or while puttering around the workshop. Track this one down and add it to your collection, it will not disappoint.

New Moon DVD Release
Midnight was the release of the New Moon DVD, New Moon of course being the Second movie based on the ... Hit ( pause to keep from barfing ).... Twilight book series. Now before I get drowned in a sea of complaint e-mails, let me explain myself. As a series written for teens; it has merit, I understand LDS (Mormon) member and author Stephanie Meyers even went so far as to cleverly hide lessons in the story for her readers. Now even she had only researched what she was writing about.
Let me repeat myself, as a teen drama it has merit, as any sort of a VAMPIRE story; it fails miserably. I watched the first Twilight movie, and I did enjoy it, as long as I viewed it for what it was, a movie suitable for my teenage daughter and her friends. And then New Moon, the second in the series was released, and with this story werewolves were added to the mix. Were-huh? within context on the story it is very easy to realize that Jacob is not a werewolf, not in the traditional sense. Jacob Black and his family are Shape Changers, but not Werewolves. The Twilight series are good books, and now the movies are developing a following they do deserve; But they have no relationship to the Horror Genre.
Now then, on to the release party. My family and I arrived at the local FYE for the Midnight release of New Moon on DVD, joining dozens of others. As we waited we were treated to0 a live band, that went by the name of Fart; punch, cookies and mini cupcakes and got to hang with a bunch of really cool people.

The more things change the more they stay the same.
Well folks the radio show celebrated it's fiftieth episode a couple of weeks ago, and we're fast on our way to one hundred., also after two specials the video show should begin regular production this coming month, although in a two hour format. now before anyone says anything about our name being Shrieking Double Features ... I suggest you try producing a weekly radio show, take care of a home, three teenagers, two dogs and still have time to produce a four hour video program. Now I will put out the new show as often as I have time, content, and someone willing to show it, better ? :P
On the home front, we're back to square one. After two surgeries for Cancer and weeks of chemotherapy, it's looking like Mrs will be going through Chemo again, this time to finish off the ovarian cancer found during her hysterectomy surgery. We'll know more next week.
Plans are moving ahead for our first ever personal appearance. We will be at Dark Shadows Festival in July ... more news as it becomes available.
( NOTE: I miscounted the number of episodes and after consulting with Cragg the Gargoyle over at Cult Radio A Go-Go, we discover that episode fifty on April 3 )

You Can't keep A Good Ghoul Down
Well the Christmas Holidays went well and everyone around here enjoyed their presents Santee Claws, but as all good things come to an end, as the year did, so did our good luck. First I was hospitalized for short time, and then the Mrs. Unfortunately, Mrs hospital stay came with a new diagnosis of Cancer. So this year is going to be a repeat of the the previous. I'll try my best to keep this updated, but no promises.
On lighter note, both the Halloween and Christmas shows were well received by viewers, so this year we'll begin our first full season, where we'll be hosting movies from all across the spectrum., introducing new characters; and who knows ... maybe once your old Uncle Gomez gets to feeling better i may even have a surprise or two for everyone.
